Ilyssa H. Kelson
Ms. Kelson is Of Counsel at DanaherLagnese, where her practice is focused exclusively on the defense of medical malpractice claims and representation of health care providers in administrative proceedings before the CT Department of Public Health. Ms. Kelson represents hospitals, physician, psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and other health care personnel and institutions utilizing her undergraduate education in biology and more than thirteen years of experience in health care litigation. Ms. Kelson’s representative experience includes defending lawsuits claiming wrongful death and permanent injury due to surgical complications from bariatric and neurosurgical procedures; hypoxic induced brain injury in newborns; delayed diagnosis of cancer and cardiovascular disease; permanent neurologic injury and death following general anesthesia; failed cardiac resuscitation; catastrophic outcomes in the emergency department setting; blindness following ophthalmologic treatment in adults and children; and wrongful death claims arising out of psychiatric care.
Ms. Kelson has also defended orthopedic surgeons in litigation involving failed hip prostheses used in total hip replacement and urogynecologic surgeons in cases involving vaginal mesh products. Ms. Kelson is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York State and Federal Courts.
Prior to joining the firm, she was Of Counsel at a Stamford, CT litigation firm where she also focused her practice on medical malpractice defense. Ms. Kelson has been named a “Rising Star” by the Connecticut Super Lawyers in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015 for medical malpractice defense.
