Mr. DeSimone graduated in 1991 from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He earned his B.A. in political science from Brown University in 1985. He is a member of the Connecticut Bar and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut.
Mr. DeSimone is experienced in all phases of civil litigation defense. His practice focuses on defending health care providers in medical malpractice cases and in investigations and hearings conducted by the Department of Public Health. He has particular experience in the areas of oncology, pulmonary and renal medicine and infectious diseases. Mr. DeSimone regularly defends claims involving significant economic damages including wrongful death, severe permanent injury and significant financial loss.
Mr. DeSimone is experienced in the area of health care fraud and abuse. He counsels health care providers regarding state and federal health care regulatory matters. He has knowledge of and experience with the application of complex health care compliance laws and regulations at both the state and federal levels, including HIPAA, the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute and the Stark law regulations. He has worked with various Assistant U.S. Attorneys in this regard. Mr. DeSimone has experience with medical billing and coding requirements and provider contracting with health plan networks.
