Ms. Cahill is licensed in four states (CT, NY, MD and DC) and began her practice in medical malpractice defense in 1983. Ms. Cahill’s current practice is devoted to representing health care providers before the Department of Public Health related to all matters and medical malpractice defense litigation with a focus on surgical issues. Ms. Cahill has successfully litigated medical malpractice jury trials achieving a defendant’s verdict in each case and successfully argued medical malpractice issues before the Connecticut Appellate Court. She has significant mediation experience as an advocate and has also served as a medical malpractice mediator. She has lectured on various topics related to medical malpractice and has experience as an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Nursing at the University of Connecticut teaching a course concentrating on medical legal issues.
Prior to joining the DANAHERLAGNESE firm, Ms. Cahill was a partner at a litigation firm where her practice focused exclusively on litigating medical malpractice defense matters. Thereafter, Ms. Cahill practiced with another Hartford litigation firm and represented physicians, dentists and hospitals in medical malpractice cases and administrative proceedings before the Connecticut Department of Health. Additionally, Ms. Cahill has experience in product liability matters and has served as coverage counsel at The Hartford.
Currently, in addition to medical malpractice defense work, Ms. Cahill is serving a second three-year appointment on Connecticut Judicial Civil Commission which is charged with the review of the status of the civil docket and the development of practices that will improve the administration of judicial services. Previously, Ms. Cahill was appointed to and served on the Commission of Civil Court Alternative Dispute Resolution which was charged to conduct research on the processes and criteria that could be used to evaluate ADR programs and providers in a rigorous and meaningful manner. Ms. Cahill has also served as a defense and trial strategy consultant for a major insurance company and was a contributor to the Connecticut Bar Foundation Eighth John A. Speziale ADR Symposium at Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2012.
