Mr. Johnson defends health care and other professionals in professional liability matters. Mr. Johnson’s health care liability defense practice has encompassed dozens of medical specialties and sub-specialties. Mr. Johnson has also defended some of the state’s most prominent law firms in malpractice and other litigation. Related to his professional liability practice, Mr. Johnson advises lawyers and law firms on legal ethics issues and he defends lawyers in disciplinary matters.
Mr. Johnson litigates a wide range of business disputes including employment disputes, and maintains an active construction law practice in which he drafts and negotiates contracts among owners, contractors, subcontractors and design professionals and litigates construction disputes.
In Mr. Johnson’s insurance practice, he has represented insurers, reinsurers, and policyholders in coverage, bad faith and other disputes ranging from multi-million dollar mass tort liability claims among insurers and reinsurers to relatively modest claims involving auto and homeowner’s insurers. Mr. Johnson also provides policyholders already being defended by insurers with personal representation to help ensure that the underlying claim is resolved within coverage limits.
Mr. Johnson is a past President of the Connecticut Defense Lawyer’s Association. He serves as Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Professional Ethics. Mr. Johnson is a frequent CLE presenter, particularly on topics of legal ethics.
